A Brew With…Rowena Lee PR
2 Jul 2015This month we are talking to our very own PR team, Rowena Lee PR, who help us spread all of our good news around Richmond and beyond.
Who is Rowena Lee PR?
Rowena Lee PR was set up in December 2013 by founder, Rowena Lee. The 27-year-old had been working in the PR and communications industry for seven years before deciding to take a bold step and set-up her own company.
More than 18 months on, the team has grown from just one to four members of staff and their clients cover a wide spectrum across the travel, leisure, and corporate industries.
When did you start working with OpenCRM?
We started working with the team at OpenCRM around three months ago, as they were keen to increase their brand awareness and presence in the Richmond and North Yorkshire area, as well as demonstrating their credentials in the technology industry.
There is a huge amount of activity going on in the office and it’s up to us to share this with our target market. For example, the team took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge recently so we did some PR in the lead-up to the event, encouraging the local community to get involved with the staff and their quest, and we also issued pictures from the day itself, thanking everyone for their support.
The next few months are going to be exciting and busy for OpenCRM and we are on hand to shout about the good work and their continued success.
What is OpenCRM’s target market?
Positioning OpenCRM as a local employer and a champion of the community are important messages for us to convey so we have been reaching out to the local publications over the last few months.
We have had some great coverage in the Northern Echo and the Darlington and Stockton Times and we have been liaising with some of the business pages to profile Graham, the founder, who has an amazing story and background. We have loads of ideas on our PR plan so watch this space.
What do you like most about working with OpenCRM?
They are a lovely bunch of people at OpenCRM who are great to work with and very approachable – which makes our job really enjoyable. They are so receptive to all of our PR ideas and we have some great discussions about how we can raise awareness of the brand.
From a company point of view, we really admire the work ethic of the team. The system and its processes have been designed with the customer experience at the forefront of their minds and that really comes across when you work with the team.
Before I got my start in the tech industry as part of Apple’s UK Mac launch team, I was a professional drummer (notice I didn’t say musician). But once I got in, I was hooked and I’ve been involved in the tech industry, primarily software development, for over 35 years. I founded this company and I now have the enviable title of System Architect (as well as Managing Director) here at OpenCRM.
