GDPR Deadline week – are you ready?
21 May 2018It has finally arrived. After years of preparation, months of development, and weeks of demo-ing, the week of the GDPR deadline has arrived.
That’s right, this week (Friday to be specific) is the deadline for the General Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR to its friends).
GDPR has been brought in to being to address and legislate for this new data-driven world we live in today. There are some big changes in these regulations, though, and a lot of companies have had to work hard to implement the necessary changes in their processes.
And I’m sure there are a lot of companies who, because they heard about GDPR too late or had a lot to do, aren’t ready for the Friday deadline.
What should you do if you aren’t ready?
It depends on where you are in the process. If you’re just tweaking your policies and procedures, I wouldn’t panic. If you haven’t started, however, maybe now is the time to put the pedal down.
The first place to turn to ask any lingering questions is your legal advisors or the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Your IT team, web developer, or software provider are there to give you the necessary tools, we aren’t here to give you legal advice.
How can OpenCRM help?
We have some great, recently released features that exist to help you manage various aspects of your GDPR requirements. These are supported by helpful FAQs to walk you through setup and our customer service team who are on hand to help you through any tricky bits.
Additionally, we have some webinars that will serve as an introduction to these topics and, of course, you can always give your account manager a call to chat things through.
But remember, we aren’t here to offer legal advice. We are here to give you the tools you need to achieve compliance and support you in their usage.
Before I got my start in the tech industry as part of Apple’s UK Mac launch team, I was a professional drummer (notice I didn’t say musician). But once I got in, I was hooked and I’ve been involved in the tech industry, primarily software development, for over 35 years. I founded this company and I now have the enviable title of System Architect (as well as Managing Director) here at OpenCRM.
