I’m Thankful For…
24 Nov 2016Just by a strange happenstance, I am posting a blog on the American Thanksgiving, so it feels rude not to at least mention the holiday.
I’ve been told, by one of our resident Americans here at OpenCRM, that a Thanksgiving tradition is to say what you are thankful for during the meal. Now, I’m going to wait until Christmas to sit down to a big turkey dinner, but I can certainly say what I’ve been thankful for this year:
UK Cloud Awards
This year I was hugely proud of all the guys and girls here at OpenCRM when we were named as finalists for the CRM of the Year Award at the UK Cloud Awards. Getting recognition for a product that we’ve all worked so hard on for so many years meant a lot to the whole team.
We know that OpenCRM is a great product and it was so great to know that other people do too.
Investors in Innovation
I know it’s a bit groupie of me, but I think Elon Musk and others like him are exactly what this world needs right now. Musk has recently made headlines once again with his company’s plan to launch over 4,000 satellites into orbit to create a global Internet infrastructure. This is, of course, in addition to his plan to colonise Mars with his company, SpaceX.
No problems with setting the bar too low, I suppose.
Investing in these big goals to drive innovation is what will take us from where we are now to a future full of great gadgets and world saving technologies.
Puppies
I may spend a lot of time complaining when the puppies wake me up at night or when they start chewing on the walls, but I have to say that I am thankful that I have both Hector and Barney in my life.
They’re wonderful pups and put a smile on my face every single day.
Before I got my start in the tech industry as part of Apple’s UK Mac launch team, I was a professional drummer (notice I didn’t say musician). But once I got in, I was hooked and I’ve been involved in the tech industry, primarily software development, for over 35 years. I founded this company and I now have the enviable title of System Architect (as well as Managing Director) here at OpenCRM.
