Richmond Based Software Development Company Takes on Fundraising Challenge for Papyrus

The intrepid team at Richmond based software company, OpenCRM, has taken on the Yorkshire Three Peak challenge in a bid to raise awareness and vital funds for national suicide prevention charity, PAPYRUS.

On 13 June 2015, 30 members of the OpenCRM team along with friends and family will take on the summer hike, where they will have the option to take on one, two, or all three of Yorkshire’s Three Peaks.

Calling themselves Y3P, the team also has several people attending on the day who will be providing that much needed support and encouragement to the hikers, with emergency vehicles, food, water, spare clothes, and any medical supplies all on hand, just in case one of the dedicated walkers needs a quick fix during the extreme fundraising day.

PAPYRUS is dedicated to preventing young suicide in the UK. Every year the charity helps thousands of young people and those who care for them. The on-going work that the charity does, throughout the region and on a national level, is crucial for providing young people with hope and a place where they can speak openly and in confidence about how they are feeling and receive practical help and advice.

“We rely heavily on fundraising and donations to support our helpline and community services,” said Laura Green, PAPYRUS community fundraising co-ordinator.

”There is no doubt that this wonderful effort by OpenCRM will be helping us to raise awareness that there is hope and help for young people who feel they are not coping with life.”

PAPYRUS is a charity that is close to heart for the whole of the OpenCRM team, after three of the staff members have personally experienced a young suicide in their own life. Therefore the team is personally committed to raising as much money as possible for the worthy cause.

Graham Anderson, CEO of OpenCRM comments: “The team has been busy limbering up and getting ready for the big day in June. They have already completed their third practice walk here in North Yorkshire, with activity now ramping up, as the countdown to June 13 gets closer.

“There are so many charities that we wanted to support for this activity, but PAPYRUS means so much to all of us at OpenCRM. Young suicide is such a sad and unnecessary situation, but it is unfortunately the leading cause of young deaths in the UK. Like PAPYRUS, we believe many of these deaths can be prevented, which is why we are now dedicated and so passionate about supporting this amazing organisation in any way we can.”

As part of the Y3P group, staff members from Durham Recovery College, Arch, will be joining the team and taking on the challenge. This is a new further education college dedicated to equipping people with the skills and knowledge they need to manage their recovery from mental illness.

Graham adds: “We want as many organisations and people to get involved with our challenge as possible. If you fancy joining us on June 13, just visit our office or give us a call to discuss. If you are unable to join, we would appreciate any donations at all. We are aiming to reach our £1,000 target so even a small gesture would go a long way to help us reach this goal.”

OpenCRM is a cloud based customer relationship management system. Based in Richmond, the company works with clients across the world to create a software solution that is tailored and personalised to the client’s organisation to support and aide them to deliver the best possible results.
