Star Radio – North Yorkshire Firm Sets Off For Three Peaks Challenge

1 May 2015

A North Yorkshire firm are attempting one of the county’s toughest walks for charity

Richmond based OpenCRM will tackling the Three Peak Challenge in June

They’ll be crossing the Pennines hoping to raise some cash for Papyrus, a suicide prevention charity

Tom Chapman from OpenCRM sez there are all sorts of challenges they’ll face,

“For us mere mortals it’s quite a challenge, the idea is to do it under 12 hours, so there’s quite a lot of climbing, quite a lot of descents, there’s various boggy sections and in sumer it might get quite hot, so there’s all manner of challenges.”

The company has personal links to the charity, who speak out about suicide and attempt to help young people dealing with suicidal thoughts.

Despite some tough and rainy training sessions Tom thinks the scenery of the Pennines will be enough to motivate the walkers,

“I think the Yorkshire scenery is so spectacular, that’s going to be a real motivator to get people to… once they see the views from the top of the first fell, they’ll be dying to see it from the next one, probably less enthusiastic by the time they get to the third fell! But it’s going to be a real team event.”

The team have set up a fundraising page in order to help them reach their target of £1000 at www.justgiving.com/yorkshirethreepeaks-2015
