Webhooks, Getting you the Information you need

Webhooks –  Is this the best way of getting the information you need at the click of a button?

What is a Webhook I hear you cry!!!

A webhook (also called a web callback or HTTP push API) is a way for an app (such as OpenCRM) to provide other applications with real-time information. A webhook delivers data to other applications as it happens, meaning you get data immediately. It can be used to update a link to a website with data from OpenCRM, such as an ID, a Company or Contact Name, or any other information held on the record.

So here is a real life example…..

I would like to find a Contact’s Address but I only have the postcode ( this actually happens quite often), I can create a Webhook to pull through the other details I need.

Firstly you will need to identify an Address provider that has an API, there are several free versions available.

Once identified you can set up your Webhook……

Decide which Module you would like to set the Webhook up in – Contacts in this example

Add the Webhook URL with all of the criteria you would like to pull across i.e Address First Line, Second Line, Town, County, Country, this will add to your Postcode

The fun bit, create the Button Label – what would you like to call it! As you can see we called ours Address Search (I had to think for a while about that)

Once created you can then gather the information you need when you need it simply by clicking on the button that you have created

And don’t forget we have a team of experts here at OpenCRM who are here to make sure you can set things up properly if needed so give us a call.
