Wharfedale Three Peaks Charity Challenge

25 Apr 2018

On the 28th July the team at OpenCRM will be taking on the 22 Mile Wharfedale Three Peaks walk in the Yorkshire Dales as a charity challenge walk to raise money for PAPYRUS

The Background

Working at OpenCRM makes for an interesting scenario. First of all, we are an online business. That means, for us to work effectively, we will be sat in front of a computer, in our “great indoors” for the large part of the working day.

But we are also a rural business. Based at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales, we are a stone’s throw away from the great outdoors, so it makes sense that members of the team at OpenCRM make the most of this. Whether this be out walking the dogs, taking part in a couch to 5k programme, kicking a ball around the pitch with a local team, enjoying the local wildlife or even running a mountain marathon, a lot of us can’t wait to get outside.

So it makes perfect sense for us to marry these two worlds and what better way to do so that by heading out into the Dales and making it a fund-raising exercise?

The Plan

On the 28th July, OpenCRM, together with friends and family, will be walking the 22 mile Wharfedale Three Peaks. Unofficially, this is something of an alternative to the Yorkshire Three Peaks – a challenge which we completed in 2015, raising over £1500 for PAPYRUS in the process. This is more of an off-the-beaten track route, taking in three peaks (Great Whernside, Buckden Pike and Birks Fell), starting and ending in the village of Kettlewell.

In addition to the full 22 mile route, other walkers in our team will be tackling a two-peak route or will be doing a valley walk along the River Wharfe, meaning that the day is designed to cater for all abilities.

The Charity

Our chosen charity once again is PAPYRUS (https://www.papyrus-uk.org). This organisation is engaged in the prevention of suicide in young people. Suicide is the leading cause of young deaths in the UK and is often an under-reported tragedy, and PAPYRUS do some fantastic work in this field. We feel this is a charity well worth supporting and we hope you do too.
